Three Books In, and I’m Hooked

I took a very long break from comic books.

Apparently, Batman decided that was long enough.

I mentioned Absolute Batman a little while ago. Well, I’m now reading the third collection, Devil’s Workshop, and this time the Joker is involved.

So yes, I’m back. And apparently I have another thing to spend money on.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I was this excited to read a comic book, or this impatient for the next one to come out.

The artwork. The storytelling. The way they’ve taken characters I know and made me curious about them all over again. It feels new, but it still feels right. Especially right now.

I don’t know that I can explain it any better than that. I just know I’m having a fantastic time reading these books.

Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, Frank Martin, Jock, Frank Tieri, Daniel Warren Johnson, Eric Canete, Joshua Hixson, and the rest of the team... thank you. You’ve managed to give me something old and something new at the same time. That is a pretty fantastic thing to pull off.

If you haven’t picked up Absolute Batman yet, go grab the first book. The paperback collections run about 20 bucks a pop, and to me, they’re worth every penny.

Turns out I didn’t need to find a new hobby. I needed to remember how much I liked this one.

Now... how long until the next book?
