My Cartoon Is Outperforming Me
The cartoon version of me is getting more consistent attention than my videos, so I’ve been following what works. But maybe it’s time to bring video back alongside it.

The cartoon version of me is getting more attention than the real one.
Slightly rude. Also pretty interesting.
For about a month now, I’ve been using the AI-assisted workflow I built for Hat in the Loop to help turn my ideas into posts featuring that cartoon version of me.
And he’s doing pretty well.
More likes. More views. A growing following. The response has been substantially better and more consistent than what I was seeing with my video content.
So I started doing more of what was working. Somewhere along the way, I pretty much stopped making videos.
Video has always been hit or miss for me. One does really well. The next goes up and disappears into the internet, apparently never to be seen again.
The cartoon has been getting a much steadier response.
But now I’m wondering whether I’ve let that success push video out of the mix a little too quickly.
There’s still something I like about talking directly to people. You get the voice, the pauses, the occasional ramble. All the things a drawing can’t quite deliver.
The cartoon gives me another way to share my ideas. Maybe there’s room for both.
It’s only been about a month. I’m encouraged by what I’m seeing, but I’m still figuring out what this should look like.
So maybe it’s time to keep the cartoon going and bring the actual guy in the hat back on camera a little more often.
What do you think? Would you like to see more videos mixed in with the cartoons?
